New Etsy shop

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

I’ve finally got round to setting up my Etsy shop.www.etsy.com/shop/sampeare .Have just got a few things on there so far that are ready to send out, planning to add more soon. This is probably the easiest way for overseas customers to buy at the moment. Had my first sale the other day of this little coin purse!

Wild flowers

Monday, August 1st, 2011

There are so many lovely wild flowers around at this time of year on Skye. The roadsides and fields are full of them, as is the path I walk along daily with Percy and Perry.

I’ve taken the opportunity to use such a lovely backdrop for some photos of some newer pieces.

Skye Living

A definite bonus of living somewhere like we do is being able to pop down to the beach on a nice day for a picnic lunch!

Hello!

Saturday, July 30th, 2011

Well I think it’s high time I resurrected this blog!

Having had a very busy year looking after my little one and getting my new studio set up, I’m finally starting to feel a bit more on top of things and wanting to share what’s going on up here!

Percy has obviously been taking up most of my time and here he is, my best creation!

Time Flies When You’re ……

Sort of having fun! Can’t believe we’ve been in our new house for nearly a month. Things have been pretty busy and there’s definitely plenty to do on the house to keep us occupied for a long while yet!I am loving it though.
The garden is great and I think will be very inspiring, can’t wait to be able to plant stuff and grow our own veg properly.

We seem to have quite a few bird visitors to the garden too. Daily visits from dunnocks, a robin ( very fitting as I’m currently stuffing lots of fabric ones to send out to shops and sell on this site), sparrows and two male blackbirds; competing for territory I think. I’ve also seen starlings, collared doves, blue-tits, chaffinches and a fieldfare. That’s before I’ve even started to put any food out for them!

Have been getting down to work now to try and get on top of orders for all my lovely stockists. Lot’s of sewing ahead of me this week, whilst also fitting in knocking old plaster off the walls and carting barrow fulls of gravel to the top of the garden for a new path. If nothing else we’re keeping busy!

As hinted at above Christmas really does seem to be around the corner now and I plan to have my Christmas range for sale on the website soon.

Stanley

Stanley the Stag’s been getting around a bit this last month as well, he was spotted in both Country living and BBC Homes and Antiques courtesy of Sally at Pheasant mail order. I’m planning a new version of the Stanley cushion for my website soon too, so keep a look out!

Perry's making sure he doesn't get left behind!

Perry's making sure he doesn't get left behind!

Have finally had the good news that we now own the house on Skye! Can’t wait to get up there, but it does mean that it’s crunch time for packing up the studio which I’m not really relishing!

It’ll be great to get up there and make it ours.It does mean not much embroidery will be getting done for the next few weeks but it will be lovely to set up my new studio and hopefully get inspired by my new surroundings.

Have put together a little fabric picture to use as a change of address flier. I quite like how it’s worked out and it’s given me some ideas for a new product…….Watch this space!

Studio Space

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Have been getting on with work in the studio this week. trying to get all outstanding orders done before the big move. Nearly on top now, might even get time to start making some stock!

I’m being quite philosophical about the current lack of movement with our house purchase, using the extra time to get stuff organised a bit more and just appreciating my surroundings while I’m still here.

As part of this I took some pictures of my studio today, a kind of record of the space. It’s quite nice to spend time here when it’s reasonably (for me) tidy.

I am looking forward to getting a new space that I can set up from scatch with appropriate storage. This space has always felt a bit temporary.

I’m planning to have things more organised when I have a new space!

But it is nice to have lots of pretty and inspiring things around.

New Blog, New Site, New Life! (nearly!)

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Hello! This is the start of my new blog to go with my new look website!

Blogging is a whole new thing for me but I intend to use it to let you all know what’s going on in the world of Sam Peare Textiles. Its also going to be a kind of diary of life as we embark on our adventure, relocating to the Isle of Skye.

As I write this post we are awaiting news of when exactly we will be allowed to move into the house we are buying at Edinbane. Anyone who knows me will know this has been going on for a while, but we have finally had the letter that says they will sell to us (very kind of them after 2 months of waiting!). So we are now waiting to hear when exactly we can move. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks! I aim to post updates on that as well as info on new products, developments within my work and business, and anything else that interests or inspires me that hopefully others will find interesting too!
