This December I will be running several workshops here in Edinbane on the Isle of Skye. If you're in the area why not come along, learn a new skill and go home with your very own seasonal and/or festive creation!

1. Cosy Candle Votive Workshop: 10-1pm Sat 3rd and 6-9pm Thurs 8th December

These are shorter workshops where you'll have the opportunity to create a small embroidery to make up into a candle votive. The candle votives are lovely to have as a decorative piece in your home and when you pop in a battery powered tea light they give a really cosy glow, just right for this time of year and you can make them as festive as you like with your very own design embroidered on! They also make lovely gifts so this could be a chance to create a special handmade present for a loved one.

These workshops will be 3 hours long which should give enough time for you to get to grips with the basics of machine embroidery, or learn some hand embroidery techniques if you prefer and create a simple design which we will then make up into your votive.

2. Christmas Stocking Workshop: 10-4pm Sat 10th December

This is a full day workshop where you'll get to create a special heirloom Christmas stocking for yourself or a loved one. You will have the opportunity to create a bespoke design tailored to whoever it will be used by and even personalise it with a name. We will spend the firt part of the session learning and practicing machine embroidery and or hand embroidery techniques. You will then get the chance to work on putting together the design you'd like to use on your stocking before stiching it up and creating your finished piece! This workshop will be 6 hours long, 10am-4pm and will include lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Info for all workshops:

You do not need any experience in machine embroidery to take part, a basic knowledge of using a sewing machine is helpful but full instruction will be given and numbers per class are limited so you will have plenty of individual attention. If you prefer you can use/learn some hand embroidery to create your design instead.

If you have your own sewing machine you can bring it along to work on, or I have a few machines available to use during the workshop. If bringing your own machine please make sure it's in good working order, has the ability to drop the feed dogs and you have a basic knowledge of using it.

All the materials that you need to complete your project will be provided but feel free to bring along any fabric bits and pieces that you would like to use in your design if you have them. It's also useful to bring along any images you might have for inspiration or to use for reference but again you are welcome to use my reference materials and I will have templates from my own designs available to use if you prefer.

Refreshments will be provided during all the workshops to keep everyone going!

If you would like to book a place on any of the above workshops please contact me via this website or email and I will get back to you to confirm you have a place and send an invoice for payment.

Full payment is required upon booking the workshop/ receiving your invoice. Refunds will only be given if the workshop is cancelled.
